The Presidio’s 1,500 acres begin a few blocks west. Take the Lyon Street Steps down toward the Palace of Fine Arts, follow the trails to Crissy Field and Baker Beach, or spend an afternoon at Presidio Tunnel Tops, with its lawns, gardens, and views of the Golden Gate. Golfers have the Presidio Golf Course, along with the private Presidio Golf & Concordia Club nearby.

A short walk south, Sacramento Street is the neighborhood’s village main street. Start with coffee at Barista Coffee & Brunch, pick up provisions at London Market, and return in the evening for dinner at Spruce, Sociale, or Sorrel, three of the city’s most loved neighborhood dining rooms.

For a bigger night out, Fillmore Street offers SPQR and, further on, State Bird Provisions and The Progress. On the Cow Hollow end, Atelier Crenn and Bar Crenn bring Michelin-starred dining within easy reach. Union Street’s cafés and boutiques round out a weekend afternoon.

Alta Plaza Park, with its terraced lawns, tennis courts, playground, and sweeping city views, is a short walk away, with Lafayette Park beyond.

Davies Symphony Hall, the War Memorial Opera House, and SFJAZZ are a short drive away, making an evening at the symphony or opera easy to plan.
